Religious Education

The most precious gift that God has given us is our children. While they receive our care and love, what they give, even to a whole parish community, is far more important. They show us the very innocence and wonder of God. Our service to our children in handing on to them our faith is the link that builds the Body of Christ, both now and in the future. There is no greater gift that can be given than to teach a child about God's love for them.
If you haven’t been involved in Religious Education (CCD) lately, you will find things have changed in many ways over the years. What was once strictly instruction in doctrine has expanded to include a variety of teaching/learning tools, prayer experiences, service activities, videos, projects, and liturgical celebrations.
At Mary, Mother of Hope Parish our Kindergarten through grade 8 classes meet every Sunday morning for one hour from September to May. The lessons follow a comprehensive core curriculum that flows from year to year and includes the life and teaching of Jesus, Bible stories, Catholic doctrine and practices, moral decision-making, sacraments, and models of Christian living.
Catechists (CCD teachers/aids)
Our CCD Teachers are volunteers who instruct our children in the Catholic Religion and witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ. They are caring individuals, committed to grow personally in knowledge and spirituality as they support parents in the development of each child.
